In this presentation from the 2024 Europe Virtual User Group, Caleb Clauset, VP Product + New Markets at Typefi, lifts the curtain on some projects that are in the works for the coming years and talks about our upcoming eXtyles alternative, currently known as Project Orion.

First, Caleb gives a high-level overview of the Typefi product stack. He also briefly discusses recent developments including updates to Typefi Cloud and the soon-to-be-released Advanced Engine (check out Guy’s presentation for more about Advanced Engine).

Next, Caleb runs through a few of the big ideas we’re working on that will likely become products in the future, including:

  • Project Skywriter: a way to author online, from anywhere, on any device
  • Asset Workflows: a big step forward for collaboration with your team using Typefi
  • Project RAGtime: an enhanced support tool leveraging NLP and AI
  • Project Hemingway: an InDesign plug-in using AI to help you copy-edit faster
  • Project Maestro: enhanced image manipulation within Typefi using Adobe Sensei

Caleb wraps up this presentation with a deep dive into Project Orion, our upcoming alternative to Inera eXtyles.

We know there’s a lot of anxiety around eXtyles end-of-support—it’s a crucial part of many Typefi client workflows. As an Inera partner since 2006 with deep experience implementing Word to XML workflows and more than 20 years of experience developing Microsoft Word plug-ins, we’re confident we can develop a solution that will enable you to continue a similar editorial workflow.

Typefi’s main focus over the next year is developing that solution. Known as Project Orion, the goal is to build an editorial toolkit for JATS, BITS, and STS that supports both Microsoft Word and web-based editing. Check out Caleb’s presentation for more details.

If you’d like to help us build our eXtyles alternative, consider joining the Project Orion community. You’ll be added to a unique email list for this project which will ensure you receive progress updates and invites to group discussions with our product team.
