Cyclone Ditwah in late November 2025 was the worst natural disaster in Sri Lanka since the 2004 tsunami. Typefi has an office in Colombo, Sri Lanka and all our team members there are safe, but the destruction is immense. Every staff member has been directly affected or knows someone who has been. Despite the challenges, our team members were on the ground as quickly as possible to help friends and colleagues.

Women in Tech is a leading global organisation working for inclusion, diversity and equity in STEM. Typefi is incredibly proud to announce that Chathini Uduwana, Typefi VP People and Country Head for Sri Lanka, was recently appointed as the Sri Lanka Chapter Ambassador for Women in Tech.
We are both sad and happy to announce that Peter Kahrel, Senior Scripting Engineer at Typefi, is retiring on Friday, 28 April 2023. A global star in the InDesign scripting community—almost as big as Elvis + rock and roll—Peter has been programming InDesign with JavaScript since 2003 and has worked as a script developer at Typefi since 2010.

We are proud to be a tech company with strong gender diversity—35% of our staff are women and three of our five engineering teams are female-led.
Earlier this year, Typefi welcomed Chathini Uduwana, the Sri Lankan Country Head for Typefi, to its Global Leadership Team. Chathini joined Typefi in 2014 and brings over 12 years of management and leadership experience to the team.

The Sunshine Coast (where the Typefi head office is located) experienced several severe bushfires late last year—thankfully no one on our team was directly impacted, except by smoke. Typefi is supporting the bushfire relief effort with financial donations to several organisations and causes.
At Typefi, we believe in the importance of doing our bit for others. Every year, our Colombo team works on a Corporate Responsibility Project to give back to the Sri Lankan community. This year, we selected 75 families in Maa Oya, a remote village surrounded by thick forests and huge ancient reservoirs, to provide with dry rations.
